Casual Art Curator

Jade and May – Geelong

We’re looking for a casual Art Curator to help manage our monthly art wall rotations in our Geelong Jade and May store.

This is a small, casual role (around 10 hours per month) and would suit an emerging creative with a great eye, steady hands and a love of art, people and beautiful spaces. You’ll work closely with artists and the Jade and May team to install, document and support rotating artworks in-store.

The Role

You’ll help bring exhibitions and individual art pieces to life within our retail space, making sure everything feels considered, balanced and very “at home” at Jade and May.

Key responsibilities include:

• Curating and installing artwork in store (measuring, hanging, spacing and placement)

• Using ladders and handling light lifting as part of installations

• Photographing installed artworks for internal use, socials and artist promotion

• Liaising with artists to coordinate artwork drop-offs, pick-ups and information

• Assisting with exhibition schedules and artwork rotations

• Supporting in-store openings or launch moments (including the occasional Saturday afternoon)

• Keeping simple records of artworks, artists and display timelines

• Ensuring artworks sit cohesively alongside Jade and May products and visual merchandising

About You

• You have a strong visual eye and a natural sense of balance and flow

• You’re confident hanging artwork safely and neatly

• You’re comfortable photographing artwork using a phone or camera and understand good light and composition

• You communicate warmly and professionally with artists and creatives

• You’re organised, reliable and happy working independently

• You love art, community spaces and small, values-led businesses

This role is ideal for an emerging creative, art student or early-career curator. Experience in gallery work, visual merchandising or creative styling is a bonus, but not essential.

• Casual role

• Approx. 10-12 hours per month (flexible, may increase slightly around exhibitions)

• Most hours can be within school hours

• Occasional Saturday afternoon availability required for openings

• Based in our Geelong store on Rutland Street

• Hourly rate dependent on experience

• Start date: February 2026 (after school holidays are over)
