Katie Ramage: Colour, Texture and a Life Lived Well Travelled
Some pieces don’t ask for attention, but they hold it anyway. Built from layers, movement and a sense of place, they settle into a space and become part of how it feels to live there.
That’s very much the case with Katie Ramage’s artwork
Based in Barwon Heads, Katie paints from her coastal home, where light shifts throughout the day and the landscape feels close. It shows up in her work through colour, texture and a certain looseness that never feels overworked

From Fashion to Canvas
Katie’s path into art began in fashion. After completing her degree in the UK, she worked across both London and Melbourne before eventually settling in Australia.
That background still sits at the core of her work. There’s a strong sense of composition and balance, an instinct for layering, and a confidence with colour that feels natural rather than styled. Much like fabric, her paintings are built up in stages, each layer adding depth without losing ease.

An Intuitive Approach
Katie’s abstract style is led by instinct rather than strict process.
Her work comes together through spontaneous mark-making, layered textures and a willingness to let each piece evolve as it goes. There’s movement in every painting, balanced by areas that feel grounded and settled.
Colour does a lot of the work here. Bold tones sit alongside softer, worn-back shades. Nothing feels too polished or too perfect, which is part of what makes the pieces feel lived-in and easy to place in a home.
Morocco, Memory and Material
Recent travels through Morocco have shaped a new direction in Katie’s work.
You can see it in the surfaces and palette. Weathered textures, peeling paint, faded graffiti and sun-washed tones layered with deep indigo blues. There’s a sense of history in these details, but also warmth and movement.
It feels less like a direct reference and more like a memory carried through colour and material.

Art That Lives Well in a Space
Katie’s pieces bring energy without overwhelming a room. They sit naturally alongside linen, timber and ceramics. Spaces where things are chosen with care and used every day. The texture in her work adds depth, while the colour brings warmth and interest.
There’s an ease to it. Nothing too styled or overly considered. Just pieces that feel good to live with.
A Natural Fit for Thoughtful Homes
For homes built around natural fibres, relaxed shapes and pieces with a story, Katie Ramage’s work fits straight in.
It adds colour without taking over. Texture without weight. And a sense of something made by hand, shaped by real places and experience.
The kind of work that grows on you over time.
